Unfortunately, even the most beautiful time comes to an end and so today we have to say goodbye.
Our way to the airport in Calgary leads us over the Bow Valley Parkway, the old connecting road from Lake Louise to Banff. Just shortly after Field, the children discover bears number 13 and 14, eating juicy grass at the side of the road.
Many hiking trails branch off from the Bow Valley Parkway, but unfortunately we don't have time for them. However, we glimpse 2 bighorn sheeps on the side of the road, this time they are rams with massive backward twisted horns.
With the turning onto Hwy 1, we soon leave the Rockies behind us, and arrive punctually at Calgary airport. Everything goes smoothly here and without crowds of people. After an 8.5-hour flight, we all land safely in Frankfurt.
Conclusion:
The landscape of Canada, the endless vastness, the friendliness and openness of the people fascinate us over and over again.
The rugged rocks of the snow-covered Rockies form a great contrast to the deep green forests, rushing waterfalls and colorful lakes.
We were probably particularly lucky with the weather this year: a lot of rain before our arrival made everything green and contributed to massive waterfalls. During our stay, the sun mostly shone and enabled us to have unforgettable experiences!
Friederike and Clemens felt comfortable from the very beginning, were open to encounters despite language barriers, and couldn't get enough of the adventures.
However, the most emotional event was being able to hug our friend Karen and her family. Thanks to Doug and Lucille for surprising us and Karen with their spontaneous visit.
We are looking forward to seeing each other again soon!
