Today I started the day with a typical American breakfast - pancakes with bacon and maple syrup at the diner. Delicious and way too much...
The first sightseeing destination of the day was: Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Here I had to stand in line for the first time to get my ticket and then go through security (which was much stricter here than at the airport...). All in all, I was still very well served with about an hour.
The trip was well worth it on a beautiful sunny day. The view was amazing. Up close, everything was smaller than expected, but still very impressive.
From there, we went directly to Ellis Island by ferry. The museum is really interesting and well organized, and with the audio guide included in the ticket, I didn't even have to read the signs in English. Laziness wins.
Back in Manhattan, I also visited the Charging Bull. After quickly taking a photo, I continued on my way, it was too crowded... On the way towards Brooklyn, to walk back to Manhattan via the Brooklyn Bridge, I also passed by Wall Street.
The view from Brooklyn and back from the bridge was spectacular. However, it was also bitterly cold due to the icy wind.
Finally back in Manhattan, I immediately looked for the next restaurant. Right on the edge of Chinatown. After being on my feet for almost 8 consecutive hours since breakfast, I, and especially my feet, desperately needed a break. However, it wasn't very long.
From there, I took the subway across Chinatown to Grand Central Station and from there walked to Rockefeller Center.
By chance, I passed by the library again. And since there weren't as many people there in the evening, I took the opportunity to take a look inside. Really impressive. Although the large hall, which you know from movies, was unfortunately closed.
In Rockefeller Center, I went straight to the Top of the Rock observation deck without having to wait in line. New York at night - what a view!
The photo opportunities were so great today that both of my camera batteries ran out. Fortunately, they lasted just enough for the Top of the Rock!
After that, I just wanted to go to bed - rest my feet! And take a first look at today's photos.
