We have just dropped off our motorhome and are sitting on the S-Bahn to San Francisco Airport. We have now arrived. Our return flight from San Francisco to Frankfurt leaves in the early afternoon, so we will be back in Germany tomorrow on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023 at 9:35 a.m.
wonderful time and good opportunity for a summary of the last 4 1/2 weeks:
We were on the road for a month, including three and a half weeks in the motorhome. We experienced an incredible amount, saw great things, drove through varied landscapes, and had wonderful experiences. We crossed 8 states, 6 of which were different (California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah). We drove 3800 miles = >6000 km with the motorhome. We didn't have an accident, we didn't break down, we didn't break anything, we never drove too fast, we didn't even get a ticket for illegal parking. We've been in the desert, we've been on the prairie, we've been in the Rocky Mountains, and we've been in Death Valley. We were at over 2500 m altitude and we were at -100 m depth. We had over 30° during the day and 5° at night, we had summer and autumn, but we didn't have a single drop of rain on either day. We drove a pretty big RV, we flew over the Grand Canyon in a helicopter, we drove through Monument Valley in a fat Jeep, and we drove Yevo's truck around Clear Lake. Oh yes, and I also drove the obscenely loud Harley Davidson. We saw lots of animals, we saw raccoons, skunks 🦨 deer, road deer, tarantulas, a lot of vultures, and even a hummingbird. We experienced the USA as very different. We've seen from super rich to dirt poor, we've seen from pretty high cost of living to cheap depending on what region we were in. Camper life and sitting in the car a lot was challenging and the many impressions we got from it were enriching.
It was an incredibly beautiful trip and we are very grateful that we were able to do it. And we thank you for your interest and for following us faithfully and for traveling with us enthusiastically.
