Let's continue heading north

Two days ago we left Stavanger. Actually, Bergen was next on the plan. But after 2 days, our need for "people" was satisfied (Remember: We actually don't like big cities 😅😂) and I was so exhausted, so: change of route!

Yesterday we only drove for 2.5 hours (+ 30 minutes ferry) and settled on a small campsite with a fjord view.

We spent the rest of the day planning our trip. Driving off with no destination or plan B is not my thing at all, even though I've become much more relaxed about it than before, because we have everything we need on board.

Now that we have gained some time that we would have otherwise wasted in Bergen, new possibilities arise: Maybe take the Trollstigen route? And go all the way to the Atlantic Road? We will report 😉

For now, our next destination is Loen Skylift🚠. We didn't quite make it there today. The landscape gets more beautiful the higher we go 😍. You can't really capture it in photos. Rugged cliffs, green mountains, blue fjords, stunning! However, the journey is long! Today it took us 5 hours to travel 250 km, including 2 ferry rides. There's always a mountain or a fjord in the way, so it's either tunnel, ferry, or curves... You can't rush kilometers here.

The fjord ferries are very convenient to use. Thanks to the Autopass transponder, which we ordered in advance, the payment - just like the toll - is done easily by invoice when we get home, no ticket purchase, nothing, just get on, get off, all good. We're curious to see how much we'll have to pay in the end 💰. But Norway is not a cheap vacation, that's clear. The campsites here usually cost around 30-35 € and today I paid 2 € for a cucumber (okay, a few weeks ago in Germany as well). Overall, it's not as bad as we thought.

Now we have landed in Førde for now, the whole city is one big construction site. But the campsite is okay and quiet. We'll continue tomorrow!
