'Well, there he blows' - A day with Captain Ahab...

Maxxanfame: 08.07.2019

Today we're heading out to the Atlantic. We take off with 'Capt'n John & Son IV'. For over three hours, we plow through the sea in search of the humpback whales, which can grow up to 25 meters long. Our knowledgeable whale expert knows a lot about whales in general and particularly about the humpback whales that live here. She has given them names and can also distinguish them, for example, by their dorsal fin... One was named Neil, another Salt... We want to believe her once... :)

It's not easy to photograph the whale. It doesn't announce when it wants to come to the surface... and since it can happen 360 ° around the boat, as soon as the whale expert sees a whale, a time is announced, with the bow of the boat representing twelve o'clock... Three o'clock therefore means: look to the right...

With the camera's continuous shooting mode, we take 225 pictures... For this blog, we reduce the images to one-tenth...

On our last whale-watching trip off Cape Cod 3 years ago, we were already totally excited. It is truly a special experience to see these sea giants up close. Last time, we only saw them swimming, but today we were lucky to see the animals jumping. Insane and simply 'wicked pissah!!!'...

And now we hope for many 'oohs' and 'aahs' for the photos. :)
