The week can be summed up quickly. On Monday, I moved into a new "shared apartment". The shared apartment consists of a huge house with a pool and plenty of space. There are a total of 9 people living here, almost all Australians. The house is located in Mermaid Waters, a suburb of Gold Coast City. The area here is very quiet as it is mostly populated with residential houses.
To have a better commute to work, I rented an e-bike for a few weeks. This way, I am much more flexible and no longer dependent on public transportation, and of course, I am staying active.
The whole week was dominated by work. I had 10-12 hour shifts from Monday to Saturday. Although the work is not really physically demanding (I'll get to what I do in a bit), I was glad to have Sunday off. About my work: The construction site is located on the 76th floor of a residential skyscraper (265m). This level is in the final stages and will be completed before Christmas. I sit or stand in the elevator all day and ride the construction workers up and down. Disadvantages of the work: It gets very boring quickly and is actually mentally exhausting in the long run, as it is too simple of a job. Advantage of the work: I get to have conversations with different construction workers, improve my English, don't exhaust myself physically, and earn very good money. Occasionally, I clean up the construction waste and help with smaller tasks such as grouting tiles or transporting tiles.
On Sunday, I did some gardening at the house and then spent some time at the beach. Currently, it's around 30 degrees during the day.
