Monday morning we set off for Nadi in Fiji. Once there we went straight to Likuri Island (approx. 1 hour by car and 30 minutes by boat). The island is very small and therefore has a family vibe.
On the island we quickly met a few couples from Hamburg, with whom we spent most of the time.
Monday lunchtime there was a mud crab tasting (crab soup). The kava ceremony was then performed. Kava is a root that is mixed with water and then drunk. We were then able to try it ourselves.
For dinner it was Lovo Digging. Lovodigging involves placing potatoes and meat in a fire and then covering them with soil to cook them. Songs were sung around the campfire and then there was a buffet. Afterwards, various traditional dances and a fire show were performed. There wasn't much to do on Tuesday other than snorkeling, chilling on the beach and making coconut jewelry. On Wednesday we spent most of the time chilling on the beach again and in the evening there were traditional dances and a fire show again. On the last day we did a bit of kayaking, walked around the island and chilled on the beach again.
On Friday we went back towards Nadi, where we spent another night in a hotel on the beach. There we chilled on the beach again.
On Saturday we went back to Melbourne. After a 5 hour flight and 2 hours delay we arrived in Melbourne. We picked up our camper there straight away. On Sunday we had breakfast again in Melbourne and then drove to Torquay, where we met our friends from Hamburg again. We then spent the night there.
