24.12. - On to the adventure 🇲🇶

Publisert: 31.12.2016

'Good morning sparrow, we're going on vacation!' I excitedly woke up my friend. He, on the other hand, was not very enthusiastic as it was just before seven o'clock. But there was no chance of falling asleep again. So we packed our things and headed to the airport. We were already greeted by some msc colleagues at the Lufthansa counters. Yes, 'we fly with the german' :-) no word was lost about my heavy suitcase, only the seat assignment was a bit chaotic. We would have all been scattered in the plane. But in a cozy Christmas Eve atmosphere, the lady at the counter organized two seats next to each other.

In the airport building, we had breakfast calmly and chuckled at the gray weather we would soon leave behind. Shortly after, we were on the plane and on our way to the Caribbean. Nine hours of flight, 2 movies, 2 meals, and several cups of wine later, we landed in Martinique. Pleasant 29 degrees and a pleasant climate awaited us. The otherwise stressed and sometimes grumpy looking people could now also find a brief smile. With a bus provided by msc, we were quickly taken to the port where the gigantic ship was docked. There we went through the boarding process where our data was checked and we were registered. At the entrance, we saw the festively decorated ship. So far, we hadn't seen much of the island, but there was no sign that it was Christmas, neither at the airport nor in decorated houses or streets. A little tired and exhausted from the flight, we entered our small but tastefully furnished balcony cabin. We both are very excited about the opportunity to go out on the balcony. A little later, our suitcases arrived. In the meantime, I also browsed through the ship's daily newspaper, where the entire program and important information are listed. By now, I could have said goodbye to the land of dreams, but we had to go to the lifeboat drill at 9 p.m. This is mandatory for all passengers. After all, one must not forget the 5-hour time difference. It is now 2 a.m. in Germany, and for most people, Christmas Eve is already in the past. We ended the day in the buffet restaurant. I missed the ship leaving the port, but I felt myself being rocked to sleep.
