I spent my last days in Bali in the wonderful Canggu.
Since my last visit here two and a half years ago, a lot has changed. Construction is happening everywhere, new hostels, restaurants, and trendy beach clubs. As a result, it's becoming more touristy and not necessarily better...
There's not much to report as I took it easy here. But the best part was seeing the people I met here back then!
One day, I went to the famous Tanah Lot Temple to see the temple itself and the sunset. It was by far one of the most touristy places I've ever been in my life! You have to first line up at the ticket counters far from the temple. It looked more like a toll booth, with four lanes for cars and buses and one for scooters. Then, you have to find a free spot in the huge parking lot (and remember exactly where it is). To get to the temple, you walk about 10-15 minutes through a street filled with restaurants, shops, and clothing and souvenir stands. Once you reach the actual destination, you push your way through the crowds. It's actually a beautiful place to relax and stay. However, I left before sunset to avoid the traffic chaos. But during rush hour, it's almost impossible, so I fought my way back to Canggu, sweating profusely.
Other than that, I spent a lot of time at the beach, eating with friends, and watching some pretty good live bands. There's always something happening here!
I also went to do some yoga again. But this time, it was a whole different story from the two beginner courses I did in Ubud. So I gave up after three quarters of an hour and left slightly embarrassed. I guess I still need to practice... :-)
I'm now packing my stuff, going to have lunch, and then going to the beach one last time with the others to watch the sunset. And tonight at 10:30, I'll already be on the plane, on my way to Sydney!
