Today we drive through lonely nature towards Tårnaby, the birthplace of Ingemar Stenmark, the ski racer who won 86 World Cup victories in his great career. We drive directly to the Norwegian border, about 70 km away from Tårneby. It's wonderful to look down over the large plain. Tårneby has around 550 inhabitants and is located on the upper reaches of the Ume ålv river. It is one of the largest winter sports resorts in Sweden. The Swedish ski racers Ingemar Stenmark, Stig Strand, Jens Byggmark and Anja Pärson grew up in Tårneby. A ski museum in the town is dedicated to them. A ski slope was also named after each of them. I met one of Ingemar Stenmark's schoolmates and was able to exchange ideas with him. https://olympics.com/de/athleten/ingemar-stenmark https://olympics.com/de/athleten /anja-paerson
