From the completely rainy Tsumeb I went to Spitzkoppe on Friday. A beautiful rock landscape that is always worth a visit! The Spitzkoppe itself is actually just one mountain of it, everything else simply belongs to it. ;)
Before I set up anything, I went climbing on rocks first! Quite exhausting at almost 30 degrees and blazing sun! But the view from the top compensated for all the efforts! The descent was then a piece of cake!
I camped directly below the so-called 'Rock Pool', just 2 campsites away from where we pitched our tents in 2011. The Rock Pool is a small natural puddle where you can take a little dip. Of course, I took advantage of that and relaxed in and around the pool after the exertion of climbing! ;)
For dinner, I had a breathtakingly beautiful sundowner! Right after that, I went for a little evening walk to the Arch, it was just a short distance to walk! But when it got darker and I wanted to go back to my campsite, I somehow took the wrong 'straight ahead' and got totally lost... I wandered around zigzagging for a while, the lamp didn't really help me either, until I passed a campsite where someone else was. I have to mention that the area is so large and expansive that sometimes the individual campsites are several hundred meters apart and not all of them were occupied! But here I could look at a map and roughly figure out where I had to walk. After some searching, I finally made it back to my campsite and spent the rest of the evening observing the stars with a beer. You don't see that many stars in Germany in your whole life! And the Milky Way is so clear, like only rarely seen in the world! You can only see that when you are at least 50 km away from any civilization and corresponding artificial light.
For breakfast, I had the super sunrise as a counterpart to the previous evening!
And off we go to Swakopmund again! I'm staying here for 2 nights. But more on that later! ;)
