This morning our guide picked us up and took us to the local fort. Although we have seen many forts before, this time it was new that people lived in this fort. Unfortunately, I chose sandals because the streets were completely dirty. Within a short time my feet were black. We were amazed to find that in this fort the residents only get water every two days for an hour to fill their tanks. Nevertheless, they clean the streets with a lot of water like crazy. The highlight for us was watching a motorcyclist trying to pass through a narrow alley blocked by a cow. The cow didn't find it funny to be pushed away while it was eating. So it pushed the motorcyclist against the wall with its rear. However, he pushed back with his motorcycle. Eventually, the motorcyclist won. I think our guide found it a bit confusing that we were more interested in this street scene than the history of the hand-chiseled balcony he was pointing to. Since we have gained so much slowness, we probably drive every guide crazy with it. So it can happen that a topic has to be discussed within the family before the guide can continue speaking. We can't rush through the streets either. We stop where we want and when we want. What was new in this fort was that some people didn't look at our faces, but at our shoes. They immediately noticed that Mattis' sole was loose and Christian's shoe was torn on the side. They repaired both shoes within five minutes. After this short break, the guide thought he could start again. But then the magicians came and showed us their magic tricks. After we didn't want to go into any of the famous houses with their very artistically decorated interiors, the guide took us to a silversmith. There we should only be able to observe the art of silver craftsmanship. The craftsman showed us exactly two and a half minutes how he makes silver chains. Then he wanted to show us his extensive range. Of course, you don't have to buy anything, but we also didn't want to waste half an hour and ultimately leave without buying anything. So we just left. The guide could hardly believe his luck. When we came back to our driver, he was very surprised because no one has ever done the tour that quickly. We were also very astonished that we can still surprise our driver.
We were glad when we arrived back at our hotel. Because it was incredibly hot. We used the time to research our next destination.
In the evening our driver picked us up again to take us to a lake where we could rent a boat. Surprisingly, we drove about 2 minutes to the lake. There we rented a pedal boat. Since we have already stepped into the lake enough in Pokhara, we didn't find pedal boating very exciting here, although it was a really beautiful lake. So we decided to pass the time by trying to ram the boats of the Indians with our boat. Since Indians are very nervous, this was especially funny for us. The collisions led to a short friendly exchange. When docking, we also had fun driving backwards to the landing place. The wildly gesticulating docking assistants have probably never experienced someone docking the wrong way around. When they asked us, we said we were Dutch. In response, they said, very intelligent people. The supervisor on the lake was probably also happy when we got out of the boat. He had to blow his whistle more often because we were too close to other boats or trees or because we stood up in the boat.
Our driver welcomed us at the landing place. Since he already knows us a bit, he just stands there and observes. Because we have already made friends with the next Indians. We tried to drink from a bottle just like they do. After the second water bottle, lots of giggling from the Indians and wet clothes, we could almost drink as well as they do, which means without touching the bottle with our mouth.
At some point, the driver managed to get us into the car and drive us to the hotel. There we ordered our dinner through our favorite app Zomato, which consisted of pizza, burgers, and fries. Sometimes it just has to be.
And like almost every evening, we fall asleep with Harry Potter.
