Transit day or on the way to Acadia National Park

Publisert: 09.08.2018

First things first: Since we were mostly in the car today, we didn't get much time for photography.

But don't worry, to add some visual delights to my lovely lines, I will also post some photos of Boston in between!

But now, let's start from the beginning:

We all woke up at 6:30 am, got ready, packed our bags, and checked out.

We walked to the ferry terminal again, and for the last time, we took a ship to the city of Boston.

Right across from the ferry terminal at the aquarium, we went down to the subway, and after two stops, we reached the airport. The shuttle bus to the car rental hall was already waiting at the subway station, and we didn't have to wait long to reach the "Alamo" counter.

After the usual (unsuccessful) attempts by the staff to convince us to get a larger car with even more extra packages, everything went very quickly, and we were already in the parking garage and led to the "Choice Line", which means you can choose your car from the booked category.

We were lucky, after testing the trunk of a Chevrolet Equinox, a freshly washed Dodge Journey parked right next to it. The trunk was twice as big as that of the Chevy, so we didn't have to think long, quickly put the suitcases in the Dodge, got into the car, and left the airport.

After an hour, we realized that Aaron wasn't in the car. He had already gotten into the Chevy, and in our excitement, we forgot about him there. But since he had his tablet in his hand and headphones on his head, he didn't notice anything.

So we went back to the airport, and after a family reunion, we first went to the nearest Walmart Superstore to get a cooler, drinks, food, and drugs for our friend Thorsten.

Then we headed towards Maine! We crossed New Hampshire, and shortly after crossing the state border into Maine, an outlet center jumped in front of our car!!!

I had to brake hard, and since we were already standing, we parked and took a look at the poor, helpless outlet town called Kittery. After a thorough inspection of stores like Under Armour, Adidas, Columbia, etc., we continued driving north with about 20 kg more in our luggage.

The area became more rural and wooded, occasionally a river or a small bay peeked through the forest: yes, this is Maine! They have added a lot of landscape between the towns here. Very clever, the Americans!

At 6:30 pm, we reached our intermediate destination on the way to Acadia National Park: The Best Western Plus in Bath near Brunswick.

The suitcases quickly flew into the room, and we went to "Five Guys" to enjoy delicious burgers for dinner.

And here we had our first encounter with the local wildlife: mosquitoes!!! Sitting outside and eating for fifteen minutes gave us about thirty mosquito bites (I hope they were only mosquitoes).

Now we're sitting in the hotel room scratching each other in places where we can't reach with our own fingernails.

Oh yes, before someone calls Child Protective Services: Of course, I didn't forget Aaron!

And if Nicole contacts anyone, tell her I'll pick her up at the airport in Boston tomorrow... :)

Ich werde mich mal bei Alamo rückversichern, ob Aaron nicht doch im Lost & Found abgegeben wurde 😁
