A day of rest was good and luckily we felt a little better. Unfortunately, it was already time to drive back to Salta to return the rental car. Strengthened by breakfast, we set off again through the breathtaking red, purple and pastel-colored cliffs of the Quebrada de las Conchas. We stopped every now and then to look at the constantly changing rock formations and after about an hour we reached the "Garganta del Diablo" gorge. There was a small craft market at the entrance, the gorge itself was also very impressive but unfortunately also completely crowded. So we moved on quickly and decided not to visit the small village of "Alemania" either.
We reached Salta in the early afternoon and checked back into the hotel on the city's central square. Returning the rental car also went smoothly, so we were able to go straight to lunch. We were slowly getting hungry again and had to eat a few empanadas and chips. In the late afternoon we took a power nap and in the evening we strolled through the "wide alley" of Salta. It was very busy on Saturday evening, but we weren't in the mood to shop. After a bag of chips we went back to the hotel.
