Hello my dears,
just a short entry tonight. You already received one this morning and not much has happened in the meantime.
After I finished packing and miraculously managed to fit everything in my car, I started the journey towards Twizel in bright sunshine. The first part of the route was rather unspectacular, but the closer I got to the mountains, the more beautiful the landscape became. While initially driving past green fields, it became increasingly difficult to concentrate on the road with the hilly landscape. I drove along the snow-covered mountains and passed by the beautiful lakes that I still want to explore in the next few days. MacKenzie County, that's the name of the region here, is also a Dark Sky Reserve. That means it's so dark here that you can easily see the Milky Way and similar constellations, if the weather permits. So keep your fingers crossed for me...
This afternoon at 5 PM I arrived at Twizel Holiday Park where I will be living for the next week. In exchange for a little cleaning, I can sleep here for free and explore the area at my leisure when I'm off. My room is small, but it warms up quickly, which I find very pleasant as it's freezing here. Tonight I won't do anything exciting. I checked where the tourist information is, tomorrow I will go there to ask what I can experience here and then it's already starting.
So get ready for hopefully exciting posts and great photos.
See you soon,
Jessi
