Borobudur - Indonesia

Publisert: 07.01.2018

The night was short, only 5 hours to be exact, but as an individual traveler, you have to deal with it. I walked along Braga Street towards the train station. It was just getting light, but the cleaning staff was already busy cleaning up the mess from New Year's Eve. The first train ride started exactly on time, and I must say that I am very pleasantly surprised by the Indonesian railway. It is extremely well organized and clean. So you can travel comfortably and, above all, on time.

My destination today was Borobudur, and to get there, I had to take the train to Yokyakarta, then to the Jombor Bus Terminal, and from there, a bus ride of 90 minutes to Borobudur. The catch is that you have to catch the last bus by 4 p.m. at the latest, otherwise the only option left is the expensive taxi.

Of course, I arrived at the bus station at 4:10 p.m. After some back and forth, I was lucky to meet 2 like-minded people with the same destination. And so we decided to go together immediately, of course, which saved us money. They also called our transport via Grab (like Uber), so we halved the taxi fare again.

The next day was dedicated to Buddha, as it should be. The Borobudur Temple was on the agenda. This is probably the largest Buddhist building in the world, and it is clearly very impressive. It's just the crowds of people who arrive there every day that are a bit annoying. Nevertheless, it's worth visiting this monument.

In the afternoon, I also had the pleasure of tasting the most expensive coffee in the world, "Kopi Luwak," but it tastes good, I can say. I also visited the "Pawon" and the "Medut" temples, which are located nearby, and then enjoyed the tranquility in a nearby bamboo forest where a Buddhist complex was located.

Terima kasih (thank you)
