From Munich to Heiligenblut

Publisert: 21.07.2021

If I talked about mountains in the previous post, I want to revise my words! The ones in these pictures are MOUNTAINS! Mountains that pushed Bobby and me to the edge of our abilities.

So, during breakfast in Munich, I thought, "It would be nice to see waterfalls..." So I entered it into the navigation system, and it showed a route of 2.5 hours... great, I thought, without tolls... well, not really... at the border -> Vignette 10€ and to enter the national park 25€... and then 5€ to park closer to the waterfall. That's where my limit was reached, and I thought the view from the bridge would be enough!

Just breathing the fresh cold air on the way to the road leading to the waterfall made my heart beat faster, and I couldn't stop grinning when I saw the beautiful mountains around me and the light blue water ❤️

The second stop should be in another national park, so another 35€ entrance fee... less than 2km from the entrance, a strange rubber smell entered my nose. I thought either it's the motorcycles racing by or it's Bobby 🤦🏼‍♀️ And it was Bobby...

I opened the hood, and the positive cable from the main battery, which leads to the charging booster, was melted... no wonder it didn't work... so I disconnected everything and continued (unfortunately, with a queasy feeling in my stomach). The rubber smell continued, and eventually, my instinct led me to the front wheel arches. Apparently, the brake pads weren't prepared for the strain of going downhill, and I didn't do the best for Bobby, but rather let him bear the full weight downhill on the pads... Going uphill and downhill at a speed of 30km/h, I had enough time to enjoy the landscape. I got out every 2km to take pictures or feel the snow between my toes. I even took Mom and Dad on a dizzying 2300m-high #Facetime call.

Numerous mini waterfalls and glittering mountain peaks made me forget about the everyday stress and made me float on cloud 2300 twice.

Downhill, poor Bobby had to suffer again because I simply didn't know any better... and so I ended up at the first parking lot after the national park, with smoking brake pads/wheel arches.

That was the sign - enough is enough. I opened my hatchback, and noodles were cooked, with a view of a wonderfully green-covered mountain and a church :) surrounded by two roads...

The first time wild camping... the night was restless because you never know if someone might be bothered by you standing somewhere.

In summary: a beautiful spot on earth, a beautiful day combined with challenges that allowed me to get to know Bobby better ❤️
