Bocas del Toro

First destination in Panama was Bocas del Toro, a small island group in the Caribbean. Although we had heard before that the weather there shouldn't be so good at the moment, we didn't want to miss it. Bocas was one of the destinations we definitely wanted to see from the beginning. However, we had only planned 2 days for it.

On the first day we took the bus to Playa Estrella, a beach known for its many starfish. It was quite cool there, as the weather played along at first. With the many beach bars there is a really nice atmosphere. We could also see some starfish in the water. Unfortunately, the starfish there are often touched by tourists to pose for photos, even though there are signs everywhere prohibiting this. It's a pity that more attention is not paid to this.

For the next day we booked a tour with several stops. First we went to Dolphin Bay. With still great weather we were able to see a few dolphins. Then we went snorkeling. The spot wasn't really spectacular, but at least we could see some fish and colorful corals. Then unfortunately the rain came. So our visit to the beautiful Cayo Zapatilla was pretty much rained out. Later the weather got better again, so we immediately got to see a sloth on Sloth Island. Before we returned to Bocas, we made a stop to see starfish. All in all, the tour was really nice despite the weather and we didn't regret it. Although it was a bit uncomfortable in the pouring rain.

Despite the weather, it was already possible to see how beautiful Bocas is with good weather. Maybe we'll come back another time in a different season😉
