Life on the farm

Publisert: 22.04.2017

Hello dear ones!

Since there have been some complaints again about us not writing anything for so long, here's a little update on our life on the farm. We have been here for 4 weeks now, and the last two weeks alone, as the family flew to Germany on vacation. It's quite a challenge to take care of the house, the farm, and all the animals, but it's also incredibly fun. Jonas is usually busy on the farm all day with various tasks like cleaning, feeding, mixing feed, spreading straw, water blasting (the stables are cleaned and disinfected every two weeks with a high-pressure cleaner), herding pigs in and out, selling pigs, inseminating, vaccinating, feeding cows, etc. It's hard to believe, but a farm is really a lot of work. Especially every two weeks when a new group of pigs give birth, we have to be extra careful and drive to the barn late at night and early in the morning to check if everything is okay with the little ones, if they have enough straw and a heat lamp. We have already witnessed many births again. It's always exciting, cute, and gross at the same time^^

Every Tuesday we have to sell pigs. For this, a group is driven into a pen and sorted who will be sold and who won't. Then the pigs are lifted into a trailer and driven to the road to another pen where they will be picked up later. Jonas has to lift about 130 pigs every week, weighing around 20 kilograms each, wriggling and squealing like crazy. The gym is nothing compared to this=)

If I'm not busy in the house or the garden or taking care of the horses, I'm also on the farm helping out wherever I can.

Other than that, we're doing great here and we have everything we need, a house, a comfortable bed, a vegetable garden, and three full freezers with meat that we can help ourselves to, three very cuddly cats, and of course, the dog Oskar who accompanies us every step of the way and always makes us laugh. The only thing missing here is you! Yes, sometimes it's tough, and we think a lot about home and about you... Especially now that we are in the same place for such a long time and basically all alone, it's a mental challenge, and there are good and bad days. For both of us... Jonas also gets homesick sometimes (even if he would never admit it^^), especially when he receives party pictures in the WhatsApp groups, he would also like to be with you=)

A special greeting goes to Annelie and Dennis this time, who brought little Emil into the world three days ago. Finally, I can proudly call myself a godmother! I would really love to be with you now and think of you very often=)

Despite everything, we still have 3 weeks ahead of us, and we are enjoying our time here to the fullest! And of course, we are looking forward to seeing more of the world soon.

Big hugs to all of you!!
