Day 23: Friday 24.08.2018 Portstewart - Belfast

Publisert: 24.08.2018

After a rather cool night, we went to a bakery in the village and then set off on the journey to the Giant's Causeway. Along the way, we saw 3 rainbows once again. For the Giants Causeway, we were recommended not to park in the official car park, but to park nearby. In the car park, you pay for admission + visitor center + parking = approx. 25 € for two people. However, the actual Giant's Causeway is free and you can simply walk there. That's what we did and it all worked out. On the way down, it started raining and storming so heavily that within minutes we had completely wet pants and shoes. The raindrops felt like needles at that moment. Shortly afterwards, we had sunshine again (the weather in Ireland or Northern Ireland really changes from minute to minute). Due to our wet clothes and the steep way back, we decided to take a bus back to the visitor center for 1 pound. After that, we went to the Bushmills Whiskey Distillery. It is considered the oldest distillery in the world (over 400 years old) and we took part in a tour + tasting there. We were able to marvel at the complete production process and learned more about the 'liquid gold' (unfortunately, photography was not allowed on the entire site). After that, we drove to our accommodation in Belfast, the Holiday Inn Express. We will stay there until Sunday and then take the ferry to Scotland in the evening.

Mileage: 4,500 km

Insight of the day: Let the Chinese pay for it.
