Today we went on a long and challenging bike tour to Estella-Lizarra. The way there was great, mostly downhill, very scenic and extremely impressive on a steep slope because many large birds of prey circled above us. Our initial assumption that they were eagles was corrected by Joseba, our new local guide - they were vultures!
The city of Estella-Lizarra didn't really impress us, even though Komoot describes the round trip very flatteringly, but at least we got a few nice impressions. For example, the wine museum on the outskirts of the city, which grants every pilgrim a cup of wine. Unfortunately, nowadays there are only four drops left because apparently the previous visitors filled whole bottles. 😠
The way back to our campsite was quite exhausting because even on the downhill stretches I had to pedal hard against the strong headwind, while my biking partner was riding an e-bike.
However, the evening in the campsite's own bar was rewarding with lots of red wine and nice conversations 😊
