Now it's time for another safari! So we fly from Gaborone to Kasane in northern Botswana!
We spend the first night in a beautiful lodge in Kasane,
and then start the next morning with a beautiful boat trip on the Chobe River!
The opposite bank of the river belongs to Namibia, so zebras and buffalos often cross the land to escape from the lions - without visas and PCR tests :)
We spend both nights in the camp set up specifically for us, in the middle of the bush. Without barriers, at any time the animals could pay us a visit, we hear the lions roar in the vicinity during dinner in the evenings and we have to be careful not to get bitten by scorpions!
We are the only tourists in our safari group and we drive through the park for 3 days with Mr. T (probably the best guide in the world). Donald, our second guide, takes care of the camp, sets it up and takes it down, and cooks us the best food in the middle of the bush!
The national park is beautiful, green and with the Chobe River it offers a dreamlike setting. There are incredibly many elephants, giraffes, monkeys and antelopes and we can't stop being amazed!
We are incredibly lucky with Mr. T, he has known the park for 20 years, can distinguish all the paw prints of the animals, knows when they are from, and so we can follow a group of hungry lions for days, wandering around and futilely searching for prey. Mega!
It is unbelievable how close we get to the lions - an experience that we will never forget!
Fortunately, lions perceive the jeep with humans as a large object that they can't do anything with. If the hungry kittens knew that we are only a few centimeters away, we would probably have problems..
Of course, there is PCR action again! We need the test to be able to enter Zimbabwe afterwards, to see the Victoria Falls there. Everything works out great and we can time it so that the test is not older than 72 hours and we don't need a new one for the entry to Johannesburg, our next destination!
Unfortunately, we have to leave this beautiful country again, but we will come back at some point and explore the rest.
Thank you Botswana, that was something very special! ❤
Lastly:
Conclusion Botswana Katha: 'I can't draw a real conclusion after this (too) short time, but I know that I'm not done here yet! I really want to see Maun, the Okavango Delta, and the whole inland, and based on our first impressions, it can only be incredibly beautiful! The safari was amazing, especially being able to accompany the lions in their everyday life for so long and so closely, unforgettable! Thank you Botswana, I'm in love!'
Conclusion Botswana Ronny: 'Botswana is a great and safe little country with unbelievably nice people and impressive scenery. Everything runs more orderly and relaxed here than in wild Tanzania. We had a great time here and the safari, where we got to experience so many wild animals up close, was awesome. Btw, this is where they belong, not locked up in a fucking zoo. In conclusion, once again an absolute recommendation for a trip!'
