Hey guys!
When we woke up today, it was cold, cloudy, and quite windy.
We had planned to go out to the seals again with the boat...
We went to the same spot as yesterday and walked over the hill to see if the seals were still there. The path wasn't too far without luggage - about 10 minutes through a meadow - but with luggage... a whole different story...
When we arrived at the beach, we actually saw them on a small island. Suddenly, we had the motivation again! "Oh, we can do it!" We got the boat and our wet suits from the camper and set off.
Our arms were almost falling off! But we made it. We inflated our boat, changed into our wet suits, and started our expedition. As it almost had to happen, it started raining, the wind picked up, and when we arrived at the island, the seals were gone... We paddled a bit further towards yesterday's lagoon and suddenly there were seals all around us! Not very close, they approached us at a maximum of 15 meters, but it was great to be accompanied by them. Once we reached the lagoon, we anchored our boat and said to ourselves, "come on, bite the bullet and get in the water!"
We jumped in and the water was cold... Very cold... About 16 degrees to be exact... But we really wanted to give it a try! We kept seeing curious seals popping their heads out of the water, but unfortunately, we didn't see any underwater. After about 15-20 minutes, we returned to the boat and paddled back to the beach. Along the way, we kept seeing heads popping out of the water, observing us closely.
Back on land, we grabbed all our bags and clothes and returned to the camper. We temporarily put the boat on a meadow. We would go get it later. Out of the wet suits and into the warm shower. That felt good!
Then it was time to retrieve the boat. We walked ahead (it was already raining again, of course), cleaned it roughly, and put it away. The journey back was tough... That thing is damn heavy! But we managed it. Now it was already time to go back to the harbor, to the ferry that takes us to the mainland.
Since we had already washed some of the laundry here before reaching the island, we made another stop and threw the rest into the washing machine. So that's also done for a while.
There was a good place nearby to spend the night, so we settled in there right away :).
After dinner, we watched some TV and then went to sleep.
Take care and see you tomorrow :)
