Tag 13 Geiranger Fjord - Oslo

Gepubliceerd: 28.08.2020

I set my alarm for 6:30 a.m. I wanted to take the 8:00 a.m. tourist ferry through the Geiranger Fjord to Hellesylt and had not pre-booked.

So, I started driving a little after 7, up the serpentine road, as there is a viewpoint of the fjord there. You can see the picture I took from there at the top. Then I quickly went back down to Geiranger and to the ferry, where I arrived 15 minutes before departure.

Strangely, I was alone there.

Then someone from the ship came, who was preparing for the departure because the ship had been there overnight. I asked him if I could take the ferry, which he confirmed. In any case, this one-hour journey is not cheap at almost 50 euros. However, since the short trip turned into a charter tour, with only the crew and one person on board, namely myself, I found the price to be totally fine. The lady in the photo even brought me a ham sandwich to the upper deck and didn't even want money for it. By the way, you can see the famous "7 Sisters" waterfalls in the background. The journey through the fjord was exhilarating, and I enjoyed every breath during that hour.

On the ferry, I decided to go directly to Oslo, which I immediately put into action.

As always, there were very beautiful areas that I drove through. Until about 50 km before Oslo, the traffic became heavier and demanded my full attention.

Oslo has an interesting city center and is definitely worth a visit. However, after 2 weeks of seclusion, the hustle and bustle quickly became too much for me. After an extensive walk through downtown Oslo, I saw that there was a pub with spare ribs and draft beer just around the corner from the hotel. They were really delicious, but then it was enough for me today.
