Bali Day 2 Ubud

Gepubliceerd: 06.09.2017

Looks like the pool party didn't happen. Maren apparently didn't handle the two ciders very well, or she was just tired. Everyone can decide for themselves. I then spent a bit more time with the local wildlife while smoking a few cigarettes. Bats are definitely among my top 50 favourite animals.

In the morning, breakfast was brought to our villa and we had a hearty meal. Since we didn't manage to see the beach in daylight yesterday, we made a short detour there. We would give the beach a rating of 3-, the only nice thing there were the extremely high waves. On the way back to the accommodation, we visited the first three of the supposedly 30,000 temples in Bali and spent the time during the transfer mostly smoking.

The drive to Ubud, which is about 30 km away, took 1.5 hours. The only interesting things were the overloaded scooters (apparently up to five people are allowed on one in Bali) and the numerous Indonesian flags. You only see that many national flags in Germany during the World Cup.

The hotel we checked into is close to a 10/10. There are 4 infinity pools spread over several levels, with a view of the vast Ubud valley. Nice!

Right after arrival, we used the hotel's shuttle service to go to Ubud Palace. We took a look, took a photo, and then went to the shopping street. Shopping is my thing, especially since only the first four stalls had different offerings. After that, it was just copy + paste a thousand times. But we still didn't find the right sarong for Madame. So we'll just wait for the next collection. Since we didn't want to wait for the shuttle, we walked back to the hotel. It was a stupid idea. The way there seemed much shorter. Well, now we're at the pool, making up for the missed pool party. That's enough for today.
