On May 18th, finally it was time to get on the ferry: The Hellenic Spirit took us from Ancona to Patras. At the port, we finally spotted foreign motorhomes again. After a security check (I had to go through the metal detector with all our ferry luggage and then I was allowed to peacefully board the Calimero), we were directed to the ferry.
We were able to enjoy a beautiful trip with calm seas. The cabins are getting bigger and bigger, with laminate flooring and the best warm shower of this trip so far.
The next morning we arrived in Igoumenitsa well-rested. This time we were lucky, many travelers were selected for PCR testing or rapid tests, but we had a direct drive ahead of us! However, it didn't take long, our campsite is just about 10 minutes away from Igoumenitsa. Camping Elena is a very well-maintained place near the village of Plataria. It's beautiful here, the shore is pebbly but the sandy beach is next door. The only downside is that the nice little village is practically only accessible by car. Calimero has a nice spot just 10 meters from the sea, it can't get any closer than that.
We spend our time here fishing, swimming, and exploring the beach. The boys have made a friend and formed a proper camping gang.
