So, to get around to Christchurch in the end, we have to go back to the Pacific. So a little bit south again and then through the hills to the east. First thing in the morning, clear view of the mountains and Mount Cook with the lake in front, simply amazing.
The weather is good to us, a little bit of "northwesterly" but otherwise sunny and 20 degrees Celsius. After a few little stops at nice cafés, endless landscapes again, huge reservoirs, and slightly hilly terrain.
We reach Oamaru on the Pacific, capital of SteamPunk! Very cool here, lots of limestone buildings, and SteamPunk is really crazy.
In the evening, we are lucky enough to watch the smallest penguins in the world come ashore. There is a colony of over 200 animals here, and they walk just two meters past us. (No photos allowed to not disturb them)
