It was time for some relaxation, and so I didn't waste much time. After breakfast, I packed my backpack and walked back down the mountain, the 2.5 km back to Ella.
From here, I took the bus which took me approximately 3 hours down to the deep south to Dickwella. This was a small town on the road towards Matara.
With my accommodation here, I was lucky again. They wanted to sell me a large tent (bungalow style), but it wasn't that great. Since my booked small room wasn't available, they offered me a large double room with a great view in a brand new treehouse.
Of course, I went straight to the beach and here I had a choice. Either the beach to the left, 600 m away. This one was more of a surfer beach with lots of waves and not suitable for swimming. That's why I chose the beach to the right, 300 m away. It was very spacious but very quiet and almost empty. In the next few days, I also visited the large Buddha temple 2 km away. And I took a trip to the town of Matara, which was 20 km away. The heat and the hustle and bustle welcomed me, but I didn't stay long. After visiting the Star Fort, I soon took the bus again. On the way, I also visited the lighthouse at the southernmost point of Sri Lanka. I was invited to a King Coconut at a nearby guest house. But then it was back to the beach, where I spent most of my time...
