Swiss colony and Cerro Companario

Gepubliceerd: 30.03.2018

Good Morning! We are well-rested.
Yanina, who didn't have to work on this day, suggested going to the Colonial Suiza (a smaller former Swiss colony).

I trust a tourist guide completely, because if anyone knows what is beautiful, it must be them.

Let's go!

We couldn't stop marveling as we got out of the car alone. The sun was sparkling on the water and bathing the surrounding deciduous and coniferous forests in a gorgeous green.

The Colonial Suiza turned out to be a small colony dominated by various alpine-style wooden houses.
Yanina didn't suggest the Colonial Suiza for nothing, as there was a large Feria event held there a few days a week.

So that was our first stop.
Multiple stands lined up next to each other and one could watch people practicing various crafts.
Whether it was crocheting, sewing, carving, building, soldering.
We saw it all.

After a while of strolling, we left the Colonial Suiza because Yanina had made plans with a friend.

She left us below Cerro Campanarios. It was possible to take a cable car up, but it cost 200 pesos per person.
Since the ascent, though steep, took no longer than a maximum of three quarters of an hour, the decision wasn't too difficult.

We walked uphill over sandy ground... in trekking sandals.
We hadn't expected to go hiking today.

When we arrived at the top, our feet really dirty, we completely forgot about everything around us for a moment.
At least, I think everyone felt the same.

The view of the lake landscape, the sun reflecting a thousand times, the blue sky, the green forests, and the massive mountains...

A natural spectacle like I have never seen before in my life.

The first impressions dropped our jaws three floors down. I can't really describe it in words right now, so just take a look at the pictures.

The last big act of the day was coming home, because Yanina was out with a friend.

So we tried hitchhiking. It worked quickly after a dozen attempts, and we saved the bus fare (20 pesos per person) that way. 👍

Even though we didn't have a huge hike today, it was enough for one day, and it got late until the bed became too tempting to resist.
