As a dedicated railway enthusiast, I had included the idea of traveling on the railway line from Miltenberg to Seckach, which runs along the steep slopes on the edge of the eastern Odenwald, in my itinerary for a trip through the Maintal valley. However, it wasn't until the start of this summer, when I was practically already on my way, that I began to realize that there might be interesting or at least worth-visiting places along this railway line. It was only on the return journey from Seckach to Miltenberg that I hesitantly decided to make a stop in the pilgrimage site of Walldürn. To make this stop after all.
However, I wasn't very enthusiastic about it, and I walked through the pilgrimage site of Walldürn without much inspiration for about an hour, until the next train to Miltenberg would go down into the Maintal valley. And I took photos without much enthusiasm, just pressing the shutter button...
Months later, when I look at the handful of pictures I brought back from Walldürn, I feel a sense of joy flowing almost solemnly. I am glad that I finally visited this place and internalized it, like everything else on this journey through the Main and Tauber valleys. And that is beautiful!
