Day 1 was from Milngavie (pronounced Mil-gai) to Dryman (pronounced Drimmin). This day eased us into the trek and wasn’t too exciting or demanding. We did enjoy country scenes and were tempted for what was ahead by distant highland vistas. However, we were mostly just following trails (often a bit muddy) thru fields/pastures (grazing) and encroached upon by weedy undergrowth or bordered by high hedges, which often obscured any views. The hardest but also prettiest part of the walk was the last 5km on a quiet country road. Tar surfaces make for difficult walking, especially at the end of a day but scenery was lovely.
30600 steps, around 21km
Stayed the Winnock Hotel in Dryman.
