Opposite the Mercure hotel in the city center is the National Library of Chile. Founded in 1813 at the time when the Republic of Chile was created. The building seen in the photo was inaugurated in 1925.
We then visit the Museum of Fine Arts which contains works by Chilean and other artists. Currently, there is a small exhibition of paintings by a Uruguayan artist, Petrona Viera (to see). As luck would have it, a concert took place in the museum (Vivaldi's Four Seasons) with the soloist from the Chilean National Orchestra.
Finally, there is the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art not far from Plaza de Armas. Absolutely worth seeing.
Tomorrow we will take our rental car and head to Vina del Mar on the Pacific coast.
German version
Opposite the Mercure hotel is the National Library, created in 1813 during the founding of the nation. The building here in Santiago was opened in 1925.
We then move on to the art museum, where works by Chilean and South American artists are exhibited. In a small exhibition, you can see 26 works by Petrona Viera, a painter from Uruguay.
The museum visit today ends at the Pre-Columbian Museum, a must-see for anyone in Santiago. By chance, we witnessed a concert in the museum (Vivaldi, Four Seasons) with a soloist from the Chilean State Orchestra.
Tomorrow we will pick up our rental car and then head to Vina del Mar on the Pacific coast.
