Twenty-fifth day: Puerto Varas, Frutillar and Puerto Montt (May 5, 2019)

Gepubliceerd: 05.05.2019

After a warm farewell from our hosts, who withstood our nervousness, we finally get the chance to visit the Immigrants Museum in Nueva Braunau. Excellently preserved high-quality objects surprise us on three levels. We feel transported back a century.

After some disappointing detours, we reach our desired destination, Frutillar, in the best weather. It hurts the heart that we have hardly any time to immerse ourselves in this German idyll. But the tour is worth it even without "cakes" and "apple strudel", which are offered at every corner.

Time is pressing. After some back and forth, we find our next hosts (essentially, we let ourselves be found because the beautiful house is very hidden and we had given up the search at a gas station), drive to the bus terminal, leave our suitcases at the luggage storage, inquire about alternative travel options, and easily return our car to the car rental at the airport to take the airport bus back to the terminal, buy the bus tickets (departure at 7:15 a.m.), and come to the host family with a minibus. There, we finally enjoy the previously acquired empanadas and end the day.
