6.30 AM the alarm clock rang. We received an email from Nauru Airlines informing us that our flight was delayed for 9.5 hours. We went back to bed and slept some more.
We went to Majuro airport at 3.00 PM, checked in, dropped off our luggage and waited until we could board the airplane to Kiribati. Planned departure time was 6.30 PM. At 6.25 PM, a Nauru Airlines staff member informed us that our flight got cancelled because the plane was broken. They couldn't tell us when the flight will take place, we will be notified by email. After some back and forth, we went back to the accommodation at Senator and Minister of Environment's house. Luckily, he had no other guests. The next morning, we received an email stating that our flight will depart on Sunday, 4 days later than planned. Those were exactly the 4 days we wanted to spend on Kiribati :-/. Oh well, what to do in Majuro... There isn't much on the main island and the other islands are only accessible by plane. But we didn't want to risk it anymore. So we went to the supermarket, cooked delicious meals every day, rested, planned some more of our vacation, and spent an afternoon snorkeling at the airplane and helicopter wreck. On the last evening, our host spoiled us with fresh sashimi and two lobsters. Sooo delicious. An unexpected, but very relaxed stay on the island.
