Two days ago, while having breakfast, I looked at the opposite beach of the uninhabited island 🏝️. A short time later, I swam over. Unfortunately, there was no hiking trail that went up a bit. Nonetheless, it was nice to wander around a bit. In the afternoon, I hiked up to the castle again and simply enjoyed the walk with beautiful views, as well as being alone, which I need from time to time. When I came back, Burki was sitting with Jürgen drinking a can of Guinness next to the bus. We happened to meet him here again. Unfortunately, we had to spend the rest of the evening inside the bus because of the pests. Yesterday morning, I jogged along the lagoon and saw flamingos quite close. After that, I continued to the Polylimnia waterfalls. Or rather to the upper parking lot. It wasn't that easy, as Rudi had to get his feet wet 😅 or you could also call it fording. Burkis expert look already told me: This is going to be something big. The distance between the rear tires was measured with a ruler, sand plates were laid out in the creek, he stood knee-deep in the cold water and... the expression on his face, the power he generated, simply phenomenal, the fun he had.
Now we go down the path to the waterfall (his words). He was full of adrenaline. This session was not easy either. It was steep and slippery on wet stones. But when nature is so wonderful, you don't want to give up, that's when the fighting hamster comes out.
The picnic area was a special place. There is a young family living in a VW bus with 2 children, a dog 🐶 and a three-legged turtle 🐢. They have leased a piece of land, run an olive business, and make a living from it. For the winter, they still get the caravan that is on the Mani, they lived here until three months ago. There was also a bus with an Argentine and a Greek with a child from Berlin. Down by the river, there were two Germans with a tent ⛺. It was a nice atmosphere, and that's exactly what I love about traveling. These many impressions, different people, and also the way all these people shape their lives. Today we naturally bought olives and oil from the nice family and took the two campers to the next village. What I often notice is that the more people live with nature, the more interested they are in protecting it. Unfortunately, not everyone, I know. Today we drove here, bought delicious cake 🍰 along the way, took a short walk and...
In any case, I just want to say thank you again for this wonderful time. It feels so good to live consciously every day.
