Island Noirmoutier

We arrive in the evening, to cross over to the island. Only a few hours a day, when it is low tide, is the paved road accessible. Now it is high tide and we turn around and take the bridge. We quickly found a nice parking spot at the edge of the forest. It's only a 10-minute walk to the dunes and the sandy beach. Meanwhile, it is low tide and the sea has receded extremely far. The seawater has washed beautiful tiger patterns into the sand. There is a very special atmosphere here. We walk barefoot through the wet sand. The beach section is not cleaned, so even in the high season no tourists come here. That's good ... no human soul for miles ...

Over the next two days, we explore the rest of the island. Small villages with cute houses. Many are lovingly restored. There is even a small pedestrian zone. We also visit the weekly market. Here you can buy everything from clothing to vegetables. Many island residents still make a living from salt production. We also buy a Fleur de Sel for our kitchen.

Our journey continues and we leave early in the morning so that we can still drive across the road "through the sea" from the island at low tide. Another special experience!
