Week 26 - Hey Sweden and the next mishap

प्रकाशित: 15.05.2022

You can already tell from the title that I've now arrived in Sweden.

But let's start from the beginning, because I don't want to withhold the wandering dune in Leba, Poland from you.

I had booked 2 nights at a small pitch. The owners welcomed me on Sunday and then disappeared. I was the only guest, so I really had peace and quiet ;-) I used that time for sports in the garden, showering under the garden hose, and of course chilling. I cycled the 7 km to the national park. The entrance fee for the park is 2 Euros. After that, I went another 5 km to the dune. I parked my bike there and walked on the dune for over an hour. Only a small part of it is accessible, but you can imagine its size. From the dune, there is also access to the sea and the beach. It's fascinating how the dune creates its own path and buries the trees underneath it. The trees die once the dune takes over too much of them.

On Wednesday, my ferry went from Gdynia to Karlskrona, Sweden. On Thursday, I went into the city, part of which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I particularly liked the Naval Museum. Admission is free and the highlights are definitely the underwater tunnel and the submarine. From the tunnel, you can see a wreck that is located in the harbor, and you can fully explore the exhibited submarine. Even the periscope, which comes up vertically, is usable.

However, a problem caught up with me: I lost brake fluid again, or still, and now faster than before. So I went looking for a workshop. Only the 5th workshop had time and the possibility to accommodate my motorhome in their hall. Fortunately, the troubleshooting (i.e., determining the problem) could be done immediately. The brake cylinder and the brake need to be replaced, and the brake hose needs to be patched. Since the parts are not in stock, they were ordered. The installation will not be done until Tuesday.

For me, this means that I will be wandering around Karlskrona from Thursday to Tuesday.

Rita found the right words for this: Through the calmer days, the soul has time to catch up.

And actually, I am settling down a bit, but I still can't sit still ;-)

The entire southern coast of Sweden is a biosphere reserve with plenty of hikes, kayak tours, etc. That's why I went to the Tromsö Nature Reserve on Friday, where I did a wonderful hike. I stayed overnight at Almö. And I have to say, that's exactly how I imagined Sweden. Parking by the lake, lots of mosquitoes, beautiful forests, and great views over the lake.

Now I am at a campsite for 2 days to do laundry and use wifi ;-) So I'll be waiting it out for a while until Tuesday, and then I'll continue on :-)

Sidebar: The days are really long here. The sun rises before 5 a.m., and even when I go to bed at half past 10, it's still light outside. Fortunately, I can darken the motorhome relatively well :-)
