Day 5 was the day of days: actually an easy day until Guitar Lake at 3500m. That was my minimum goal. Done and I was in great time. The ranger I met in the morning confirmed that the great weather should continue. I drank a lot (even on the previous days I still "caught up" in the evenings so that I reached 3-4l daily) and by noon I was already at 3l. At Guitar Lake was my last opportunity to refill water before the summit. There I also had my dinner and then continued at 2. My goal was one of the bivouac spots at 4100m just before the turnoff to the summit. 3 young guys overtook me during my torture up there, otherwise only 4 people came towards me who confirmed good bivouac spots to me. I wanted to be there by 6. Shortly after 5 I arrived at the highest bivouac spot. Slowly slowly, but I felt very good. No thirst, hunger and the altitude was bearable too. So I tried to go up to the summit. I felt great and behold, shortly before sunset I made it to the top. The three young guys from earlier did too. The sunset was epic, the last light as well. The view in all directions was simply magnificent!! And the starry sky together with the Milky Way!! The night was windy and in retrospect I would not pitch my tent 2m next to the edge, but hey, nothing happened and I wanted to get out in time for the first light :)
