Founded in 1351 by the Khmer, destroyed in 1776 by the Burmese - today a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

The old capital of the Kingdom of Siam - a cosmopolitan city in the 16th century. as the largest city in the world at the time, with a population of 1 million people.

After the destruction, it was not rebuilt, but left as a historical symbol - the new capital Bangkok was founded in 1782, approx. 70km away from Ayutthaya.
