Day 13 - Stockholm

प्रकाशित: 19.08.2019

17.08.2019. We had planned to get up earlier today because we had a visit to Stockholm on the agenda. Getting up early worked out halfway well. We took the subway to the old town of Gamla Stan. A single ride costs 45 SEK. Quite expensive. Gamla Stan is known for its narrow streets. But we mainly noticed construction sites.

After strolling through a few alleys, we visited the coronation church of King Carl Gustaf and Silvia. Storkyrkan is very impressive. Compared to many other churches, the cathedral appears friendly due to a lot of light and bright colors.

Afterwards, we went to the royal palace. The palace is used as the workplace of the royal family and for receptions. The rooms are more modest, some are quite modern. The most interesting part was the crown jewels chamber.

We didn't miss the changing of the guards. A real spectacle with a mounted guard and a military band, which takes place there every day. You have to be there early enough to get a good spot, because the changing of the guards seems to be on every tourist's program.

After standing around for almost an hour, our feet were really hurting, but we still walked to Djurgarden. On the map, the route looked much shorter. However, the route along the water is very beautiful and with all the cafes, restaurants, and ships, it has become my favorite place in Stockholm.

Then Daniel and Pia visited the Vasa Museum. It was supposed to be very exciting. The photos are definitely impressive. I enjoyed my time by the water.

Since it was already quite late and our legs were tired, we went back to the campsite. So there is still enough left to visit Stockholm again.
