Saturday, 22.02., we started heading north at 8 o'clock. At the first fuel stop, we met three motorcyclists from the USA, Belgium, and Germany. The American from Ohio has been traveling for 2 years now. The German came from Neurupin and has been traveling with the Belgian for months. You can see small shrines, called Gauchitos, at the roadside throughout Argentina. These Gauchitos are folk saints of the Argentinians. He is considered a kind of patron saint of car, bus, and truck drivers, and it is customary to honk when passing a shrine to greet Gauchito. In return, one hopes for a trouble-free and accident-free journey. When entering and leaving cities in Argentina, there are always police checks, sometimes you have to queue here. These are fixed stations that are always staffed. Hard to imagine at home. On the way, we saw guanacos, rheas, and flamingos again. During the journey, we had another breakdown. The rear wheel bearing of Dino's Africa Twin broke. So the bike in the van and hoping to get a replacement at the next stop.
We drove to Comodoro Rivadavia, a city with about 180,000 inhabitants on the Atlantic coast. This time we sleep in a church. Somehow it reminded me of church sanctuary.
