Between pompous graves, national park and abandoned water park

We took the train from Hoi An further north to Hue. This train journey is often named as the most beautiful train route in all of Vietnam. Our expectations were correspondingly high. We were a little surprised when the train usually didn't go faster than 40 km/h (thanks to the digital display in each carriage, we were well informed about this) so we chugged along the coast for 3.5 hours.

When we arrived in Hue in the afternoon we spontaneously drove to a deserted water park. This was opened in 2004 after a good $3 million was invested in it. The park had to close in 2011. Today it is another tourist attraction in Hue and is particularly popular among young people.

On the second day we took part in a packed day tour through Hue and its suburbs. The tour guide told us a lot about the former capital of Vietnam. We visited the royal palace and its superlative tombs. The kings spent over two decades planning and building their final resting place. They have become entire parks that are now visited by many tourists. We continued to a village that produces incense sticks.

On our second day we went to Bach Ma National Park with a tour group and saw beautiful waterfalls and the largest earthworm castings we have ever seen 😂 (The rainbow grows up to 1.50 meters long!)
