Goodbye / Farewell

प्रकाशित: 01.07.2019

A move is like a bowl of chili con carne. It smells good beforehand. The hours after, you regret ever eating it.

Our farewell from Visp went surprisingly well for a move. And yet, it had all the phases that come with it: anticipation and pain, late-night packing and occasional panic attacks. Stress and calm, tears and dreams.

Place/Change

We are glad to have left many boxes, a sofa and a few pieces of furniture in Valais. For later times. Many helping hands have disposed of our waste, stored furniture, wiped kitchen cabinets, and destroyed the dirt of the past years. We cannot erase the many memories of our apartment. Our two children have grown up here. We were a family here. What we have seen, how we have lived, whom we have met has shaped us. We now have to say goodbye to the patterns of our everyday life.

We painted the patterns on our wall with a broom. Because we saw it on Pinterest. We will never forget that evening because it was a little adventure to paint this wall. And we always enjoyed looking at it.

The view of the green. The many perspectives we gained and also lost in our cozy everyday life.

The pattern of our huge sofa. Big enough for a large family to have a movie night. So many guests have sat here. So many deep and shallow conversations, so much laughter. Several children jumping around here, screaming with joy.

We say goodbye to these colors, the smell, and the view. We let go of the patterns - and have our hands and eyes free for new impressions.

People/farewell

Saying goodbye to familiar and dear people is even harder. I'm not posting any photos here because I'm too lazy to ask for the consent of 88 people. Because in the last few weeks, we have had the opportunity to say thank you to many, many people and spend time together again.

We will miss...

Encounters on the street

Pleasant colleagues

Authentic moms and dads with hordes of children

Deep conversations and funny small talk

A community full of life

Friends from the heart and 1001 acquaintances

Spontaneous meetings and game nights

And

You

In the 5 years in Visp, we have experienced that you can make friends and be open and honest with each other, even if you haven't known each other since kindergarten. We will miss you and look forward to seeing you again!

Keys/farewell

After countless BBQ parties, hours of scrubbing, and over 50 boxes, we left Visp. We gave up security and familiarity - without knowing what to expect. Out of all the keys that are so desperately needed in everyday life, we only have one left. It's for a bicycle. Or for our hearts. Take your pick.
