Central Market Quito South

Tuesday is the day when the foundation buys groceries at the market. One of the volunteers gets to go and help with carrying crates. Milton, Alba, Eli (the daycare cook), and I as helpers set off at ten. Down the mountain, past the Quicentro Sur supermarket, and into the chaos of the market. Even finding a parking spot requires patience, as there seem to be no rules, yet there are invisible laws for the sellers and the buyers. I probably won't be able to report on that until at least six months from now. But let's forget about that, Milton found a spot for the pickup truck.

And now I'll actually stop writing and let the pictures speak for themselves. Just one more thing: it's fun to watch the hustle and bustle. I like strolling around here and observing people, even with a bit of weight to carry around.

Since I didn't write much today and the readers probably don't have much to do today, here's a question that you can answer in the meantime:
What is the hairy, red fruit in the photo called? It's somewhat similar to lychee.
