Peak District

We drove further north again and reached "Pride and Prejudice" country, we are still in Derbyshire. The book says so beautifully:

"He owns half of Derbyshire!" Said Charlotte.

"The miserable half!" Elizabeth retorted laughingly.

I can't agree with that, because for me everything here has its own magic. I like the rolling hills, rings, hills and the like! Yesterday and today I was out alone with Loki because Nerone shouldn't go so far and for so long anymore, he gets tired very quickly these days. So yesterday I did a round with some footpaths, which unfortunately couldn't be continued because a farmer had simply barricaded everything with a gate and "no footpath, private land". That's not legal in itself, but then I just couldn't go any further.

Today I went up Parkhill so I could see what I wanted to do tomorrow, because Parkhill and Chrome Hill are the attractions here. I think the hikes are fun because they are surprisingly steep and then they reward you with wonderful views even in the drizzle. I had fun pushing the sheep to the side, but at some point it wasn't that interesting for Loki anymore.

Here we have the sheep again, the gates that warn you with "Please shut the gate!" and "Livestock grazing, dogs on leads!". That's not a problem at all, sheep are only interesting when they really jump, at least that's what I keep seeing with Loki. It's amusing now and then, but he's doing something where a year ago he would usually only have charged off if he had the right scent.

Dog owners in Great Britain are usually very relaxed, and Loki is a real test, because if he is not on the leash, he will run straight towards the other dog. But here, that is usually not a problem, but when he does not leave the poor ladies alone, it becomes stressful, because he needs a clear command...

The hike today was good because he couldn't mount a lady and was always friendly to all dogs, he was able to go swimming and rolled around in the grass, so everything was good! We both had fun, there was also a small café that sold regional products and cakes, you could also make yourself a coffee if you wanted to, but I'm not allowed to drink that at the moment.

Yesterday in Buxton we unfortunately searched in vain for the nice café from two years ago, but it had unfortunately been converted into a classy café without a small delicatessen shop, the flair was no longer there.....

I admit that at least the wool shop lived up to my expectations, but I wasn't really happy with Buxton because I went to the wrong café to eat a scone - I should have done that in the fancy shop! (I didn't dare do that because my trousers were very dirty - unfortunately I hadn't worn any gaiters on the hike and was therefore soaked up to my thighs!)

I like the area, partly because I lived in Bolton and the dialect is so familiar....
