25.10. Luxury in Vietnam

प्रकाशित: 26.10.2018

Today we were able to experience one of the most beautiful bus rides. From Mui Ne, we first drove along the coast for a while, and then the bus driver took us through a mountain complex with steep and winding roads, from which we had a fantastic view of the plain.

Since we got up quite early, even though we celebrated yesterday, we arrived in Dalat around noon.

Dalat is a really beautiful small town that extends around a lake and a park. What makes it so special are the many curved streets that pass by great hotels, houses, and shops, but also the small cozy alleys that lead to cheaper and more relaxed parts of the city.

In the city, I was greeted with Andras' gift: a night in a more luxurious hotel. Large soft beds all to myself, finally sleeping without earplugs and a sleep mask, and a big bathroom with a separate shower cabin so that you don't have to stand in the wet when you need to go to the toilet or washbasin - what a great change after three weeks of the cheapest hostels we could find. Actually, I don't mind hostel life and have gotten used to it, but when you spend a night in such a hotel, you realize that you miss it a little bit...

So after enjoying our hotel, we rented a scooter together and drove to a nearby waterfall because Dalat is famous for its waterfalls. It was really great to ride through the forest-covered mountains around Dalat and be outside in the fresh air instead of being in a cramped bus. The Datanla waterfall was also a nice experience. You could choose whether to take a summer toboggan or walk to the waterfall, but for cost and waiting time reasons, we decided to walk. Already on the way down, it became clear that the uphill path would not be enjoyable, as we had to overcome a few vertical meters. But the waterfall was definitely worth it, and I'll let the photos speak for themselves:

After the main waterfall, there was still the opportunity to walk a little further downstream to admire a few more waterfalls and rapids.

But of course, then we had to go back up the dreaded path, but with my EXCELLENT fitness, this was no problem at all. Back in the city, we chose an Italian restaurant to celebrate my birthday because as much as I appreciate and love the food here, it's sometimes necessary to have something familiar and European for a change.
After pizza and tiramisu, we went on a little nighttime city tour and then headed back to our fancy hotel because in Dalat, it gets really cold on the scooter when the sun is gone, and after all the heat of the past days, we weren't used to that. But since we had such a wonderful accommodation, it was very nice to spend the evening there.
Overall, it was a different but still beautiful birthday, and thanks to all the lovely birthday wishes from Germany, you don't feel abandoned here at all.
