When you look at Miami Beach, the relaxed people and the dreamy beaches, you often actually think you're in the set of the dream ship. The only downside: the weather here changes constantly. Suddenly, while lying on the beach, rain showers can appear. And the wind storms here can reach up to 40km/h. Today, things have already flown into the sea... I don't even want to know what people had to go through during Irma...
To explore Miami Beach, I went on a bike tour today. The first action in a long time where I was completely alone without other travelers. It did me a world of good... It's really great to meet other interesting people and share the beautiful impressions. At the same time, I realize how exhausting it is to constantly make social contacts and be with people all day long. Since I sleep in a 6-bed room, you don't even have real privacy at night. For me, it will be a good challenge to occasionally distance myself from people.
At the same time, I am gathering incredibly exciting experiences through other people. Last night, we sat on the beach and watched the waves, infinitely great and liberating. We philosophized about our cultures and discovered huge differences: A Jew, a conservative Muslim from Saudi Arabia, a very modern American, an Orthodox Lithuanian, and me. For me, it is still unimaginable how some of these cultures live. Especially the descriptions from Saudi Arabia seem so foreign to me: strict separation of genders in all areas, men and women hardly see each other, no physical contact before marriage, parents determine the spouse (often cousin), hardly any rights for women, obligation to completely veil oneself, but at the same time, living in villas and money for everyone from the government. Even though you can understand the cultures much better through personal descriptions, I am infinitely grateful to have been born as a woman in Germany.
