We're heading straight to the next highlight Rio has to offer: the 30-meter-tall Christ the Redeemer statue, built in the Art Deco style in 1931. The 8-meter-tall base houses a chapel. We admire the next city landmark from the opposite mountain, Morro Dona Marta, whose lookout platform with helicopter landing pad we reach through a winding taxi ride. The driver would like to wait, but I want to be independent and kindly send him away. A mistake, as it turns out later 🙈. Up here, there's no empty taxi for us, so we have to make the long journey back on foot 👣. But first, we enjoy the fantastic view of Christ the Redeemer, truly impressive! Our journey back home turns out to be very pleasant! We pass through lush green landscapes, and after a half-hour walk, we come across a bus stop. The bus departs immediately, we don't care where it goes, as long as it's downhill 😂. The bus is faster than the taxi, and later it gets to use the tracks of the small narrow-gauge railway. For a small fee, we also get a sightseeing tour of the Santa Teresa art district. To our surprise, the bus also stops just a 5-minute walk from the hotel, we did everything right 🤗
