The panniers are packed, the bikes are ready - we're starting with the night train. Following John Denver, we set off on our journey.
We're already a bit excited and very curious. The past weeks and days have been increasingly marked by preparations - small purchases, tour planning, adjusting the bikes and the luggage...
Every 3-4 days, we will publish our experiences and adventures on the blog. You can leave comments directly on the blog through Facebook or Google. We would be very happy about that, as well as feedback via WhatsApp, Telegram, or email.
If you use komoot or want to sign up there, you can access and follow the planned tour at:

So today (May 22) we're starting again. By train to Zurich and then with the Nightjet of the OBB to Graz. This route already offers the first little adventure - due to a landslide, there is rail replacement traffic on the stretch between Landeck and Ötztal. With bicycles, this is always a challenge.
After a day in Graz, we have to cross Slovenia first on the Mur and Drau cycle path to the border between Hungary and Croatia in Legrad, where we will then join the Iron Curtain Trail. Initially, we follow the Drau River, which often marks the border. There are about 2400 km ahead of us to the destination at the Black Sea in Bulgaria. Our journey will take us through Slovenia, Hungary, and Croatia, then through Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Greece, and Turkey.
