Tag 49: Albany (Whaling Station)

Since Michis ears are not getting better, we decided this morning to stay another night in Albany. We will try to get a doctor's appointment. We ask at the reception for a recommendation. Hillside Family Practice is highly recommended. After breakfast, we will leave for there at 10 am. The lady at the reception is very nice and helpful, and we get an appointment for 3 pm.

We want to use the time until the appointment and drive to the Whaling Station at Frenchman Bay. The old whaling station, which was in operation until 1978, now houses a museum with an extensive program (whaling ship, 3D cinema, wildlife park, botanical garden, playground). Since we want to have more time for the visit, we move Michis doctor's appointment to tomorrow morning. We really enjoyed the visit to the Whaleworld. The children especially had a great time with our day program. The visit to the ship, the 3D cinema, and the wildlife park were the highlights.

At around 5:30 pm, we are back at the campsite. We splash around in the whirlpool for another round (a treat in the somewhat cool temperatures) and use the spacious family bathroom again.

Today we have risotto with crocodile. Two years ago, we really liked the Schnappi, but today's crocodile tail fillet is quite tough and doesn't blow us away.
